Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ke Fateh

It is my honor and privilege to announce the commencement of Fourth 'Summer Gurbani Enrichment Program’ starting on JULY 7 Monday, which will end on Friday August 1st, (4 weeks total). Applications are being accepted. Coming Sunday July 6Th from noon to 2pm will be last session to accept applications on first come first serve basis. We can only accommodate 150 kids this year due to construction issues in the Gurdwara. Parents/ volunteers will meet at 2:30 pm in room #103 for information sharing.

This program runs from Monday through Friday from 10 am to 6:30 pm everyday in 3 blocks.

First block (10am to 12)       -Gurmukhi Akhar/muharni or Gurbani santhya is taught, depending on child's skill level.

12 - 2 pm is lunch and leisure/ play time.

Second block (2-4 pm)          -Kirtan/ Sikh history/presentation from 2- 3pm. Academic enrichment from 3-4 pm.

4-5 pm is break/ snack time.

Third block (5- 6:30 pm)      -Daily vichaar/question/ answer session and Rehraas Sahib

Fourth block (optional) (6:30 -8 pm)  -Gatka class on Mon, Tues, and Thursdays, only if you are interested.

Age limit is 6years to adult.

Gurbani Santhya continues on all 4 blocks if somebody is only interested in learning Gurbani. Very renowned teachers from Damdami Taksal, who have dedicated their lives to teach sudh pronunciation and interpretations of gurbani are available form 8 am to 8pm to teach.

This program was very well received and supported by the whole community because of its value and outcome. In 2005 and 2006 enrollment was double than our expectation and capacity.

We believe that learning, understanding and applying Gurbani in our lives builds the inner strength to overcome the internal and external challenges that our youth and community face today. That is why learning Gurbani is the focus of this program.

Besides our youth developing everlasting bonding with community and Gurdwara, uniqueness of this program is that local home grown youth and seniors/ members play a major role in the program as volunteers/ teachers which help to bring the community together.

You are getting this email because we think you can help to make a difference in the lives of our future generation. There are no fees to attend, because we believe that teaching Gurbani and Kirtan should be free to all. Program is designed to support itself by minimum funding/ donations of local sangat with no financial burden on the Gurdwara Sahib, except Langar and building. In the past very many community members have donated their time as volunteers, food, sponsored the cash prizes for learning and memorizing Gurbani, paid for the educational field trips ( only once in a week on Friday afternoons) and other prizes to motivate youth to work hard to earn their rewards.

We urge to support the program again which ever way you can. May Guru ji rewards you many many times of your contributions.

We will appreciate any creative comments/ suggestions. Please pass on the information to the whom, you deem, can benefit from or contribute to the program.

Sincerely,

Sarabjit Kaur Cheema, coordinator ph 510 364 9135
